NUMISMATIC SOCIETY
ANNUAL MEETING
The annual meeting of the New Zealand Numismatic Society was held on Monday, the Rev. D. C. Bates, president, occupying the chair. In moving the adoption of the animal report, Mr. Bates referred to tlae steady growth of the society, and the increasing interest taken in the instructive pursuit of the study of numismatics. The continued depression was resulting iii many old and interesting coins and medals being brought to the light of day, but unfortunately many collectors lacked the neces' sary current coins of the realm to exchange for such specimens, . and conse quently were often unable to take advantage of such opportunities. Many valuable papers had been read during the year., which had been a very successful, one from all points of view. The circulation of New Zealand's own coinage would give a further impetus to the study of numismatics in New Zealand. He was sorry that the proposed Waitangi medal to''commemorate the transfer of the historic site fi-6m their Excellencies Lord and Bledisloe to the nation had not been proceeded with during the year-, and he hoped that the proposal would be carried into effect in the near future. The report and balance-sheet were adopted. The election of officers resulted: — Patron, his Excellency, Lord Bledisloe; -president, Professor J.
