COMMUNiTY SINGING
Today's community singing in th« Town Hah was tho usual joyful affaii and extended well over the hour. In addition to the actual singing of pbpu? lar songs and choruses, the reading of messages from appreciative ,Usteners-in occupied a considerable time, and there was the usual assortment of gifts, tho proceeds from the auctioning; of which, go towards helping to swell the Mayor's Distress Fund. This fund benefited today to the extent of nearly £18. . Tlio song leaders were' Mr. Owen Pritctwi and Mr. Will Mason, Mr. Frank Crowther played several specialty numbers on the piano, much to the delight of the. audience, and Mr. Lawrence Ilaggitt presided at the organ.
The Ht. Hon. J. O. Coates. the Mayor of Wollinston (Mr. T. C. A. Hislop), and Mrs. J. P. Firth have accepted positions as vice-presidents of the Navy League according to an announcement made at yesterday's meeting of the executive by the secretary (Mr. It. Darroch).
