WELLINGTON ASSOCIATION
A suggestion from the Canterbury Hockey Association that a schools' triangular tournament might be held in Wellington during the coming school holidays, the tennis to represent Wellington, Auckland, and Canterbury, was received at last night's meeting of the management committee of the Wellington Hockey AssociaMr. S. B. Browne presided at the meetThe Canterbury Association thought that the tournament might help the game to become well established in the schools. After considerable discussion, it was decided that Wellington should enter a team in such a tournament if the Schools' SubAssociation could arrange it. It was reported that the annual North v. South Island match will be played at Nelson' on September 2. Nominations from Wellington will close on August 18. Advice was received from the N.Z.H.A. that a special meeting of delegates to the council of the association will be held in Christchurch on August 13 to consider a notice of motion from the Dannevirke Association, that an invitation be extended to the Australian Hockey Association to send a representative team to tour >«ew Zealand in 1934. The meeting supported the suggestion. It was decided to send a team to Otaki on either August 30 or September (i. ■The following team has been chosen to represent Wellington against Motueka, at Motueka, on August 5, and against w elson, at Nelson, on August 7:—Goal, I. McDonnell; backs, J. Gray, A. Ferguson; halves, K. Falconer, I. Nimmo (captain), J Newport; forwards, V. Stanley, H. Kelly; T. Ferguson, J. Cooper. 11. Martin. Emergencies, W. Dykes and Butler. Mr. L McAlister was appointed manager. The Wellington junior representatives to meet'a Nelson representative team at Karon Park next Saturday are as follows:—Goal, Gapes (University): backs, Styles (Technical), Harrison (Karon); halves, Chisholm (Wesley), McDonald (Technical), Norling (Wellington); torwards, Gapes (Karori), Phypers (£arori), Garbett (Technical), K. Aitken- (Wellington), Livingstone {University) (captain). Emergencies, Withers (University), Shaw (Karori), McDowell (Wesley). Mr. A. A. Kirk' was appointed manager. The senior A games and the top section of die junior games will be .postponed next Saturday. ■'■■,-'•'
