CHBISTOHUECH, This Day.
On a charge of theft, Henry William .Charles McKay was sentenced tosix months' imprisonment.
When lie was arrested last week.the feceused was charged that under, the same of Joseph Gordon Lamb he had .been posing as a benefactor of the poor and needy. Police inquiries rovi?aLed that he was- a habitual criminal who used several aliases. He was described as a labourer, aged 29. McKay was released on probation from the Auckland prison, on April 6, and since April .14, when ho last reported, the police lost track of him. While he was .staying at. Warner's Hotel he was interviewed by detectives, who considered his explanation unsatisfactory and arrested him on a charge of obtaining credit by fraud. Subsequently they found that he had a quantity of stolen goods in his possession. So far tho owner has not been traced. , Terms of imprisonment wore also imposed oa tho fraud charges, and in connection with the breach of probation. ___^__^__^_^_
