MINE MISHAP
MESSAGES OF SYMPATHY

WAIHI, This Day,
In connection with the remarkable accident at the Waihi Gold Mining Company's mine on Wednesday, when a cage containing twelve men broke away and fell several hundred feet without anybody being killed, tho Mayor has received tho following mes sage from the Governor-General: — "Please convey to those injured by tho serious accident in tho Waihi mino shaft tho deep sympathy of Lady Bledisloe and myself, and our warm congratulations on thoir escape from death, and our earnest hopes for speedy recovery. " • The London Board of directors has Cabled: "Please convey sympathy of board to all concerned, and hope that injured making good progress." The secretary of the Waihi Miners' Onion has received -messages of sympathy from Messrs. P. Frascr, president of the National Executive, and James Thorn, secretary, of the New Zealand Labour Party. Local churches held special services yesterday. All tho injured aro progressing favourably.
