DRIVER'S LICENCE LENT
Through lending his driver's licence to .iiilieensed drivers, a. young man, Bernard Ulackwell. appeared before Mr. E. Paye, S.M., at the Magistrate's Court today on two charges of doing acts for the purpose of aiding and abetting an unlicensed driver to drive a motoivcar.
Detective-Sergeant Bcvell said that the defendant had leni his driver's licence to tivo boys, who would be appearing at the Children's Court tomorrow on charges of theft. When, the two boys were carrying out the thefts they deeidedtp go on a joy-ride. Neither of them had a licence to drive,, so they borrowed one fvom the defendant. "Up to now," said Mr. lievcll, "the defendant has borne quite a good character. He was not implicated in these thefts in any way."
The defendant was fined 10s on each charge, and was ordered to pay costs amounting to ■£!.
