THE GERMAN FLEET

LAST VESSEL RAISED

GREAT SALVAGE FEAT

LONDON, July 17,

The greatest salvage feat in history was completed when the former German battlc-eruiser yon der Tann, having been towed bottom uppermost from Seapa Flow, reached Bosyth dry dock for breaking-up. The yon der Tanri was tho German rearguard at tho Battle of Jutland, and for that reason it is appropriate that she should be the last capital ship to be salved at Scapa Flow. The salvors, Messrs. Cox and Danks, after clearing the important channel there, and largely contributing to the science of salvage, have now relinquished the work which they describe as an unsuccessful gamblo which entailed a big loss, owing to the depreciation in the valuo of scrap metal. In all thirty-two vessels were raised. Ten warships remain submerged.

The firm will now resume its scrap metal business in tho Midlands.
