Rear-Admiral Bicbard E. Byrd, who is planning another expedition to tha Antarctic Continent, has written to Mr. A. Brustad, of Christchurcli, inviting him to join the expedition, states "The Press.'' As yet Mr. Brustad has not made a decision, the letter states that it will again be necessary to spend tho winter on the continent, and mentions that difficulty is being experienced in. raising funds for the enterprise. Mr. Brustad went to the Antarctic on tho City of New York, when that ship brought Rear-Admiral Byrd and hismen back to civilisation at the close of the first expedition. He has also been in the Ross Sea oil several whaling expeditions.

Dr. E. M. Litchfield has been apJ pointed to the honorary medical staff of the Wellington Hospital, as a physician.

The Wellington Hospital Board yesterday passed a resolution expressing reget at the death of Mr. T. H. Gill, for four years a member of the board, and it was resolved to send a letter of sympathy to his widow. '
