BOWLERS FAREWELLED
A Svell-aftended social gathering of local and cicy members of the Eastbourne Bowling Club was held at the club's pavilion last night to farewell three members, .Mr. Harry E. Card, who is taking up his residence in Wanganui, Mr. •H. J. Pearse, who is going to Auckland, and Mr. 1. Jakobsson, who shortly goes abroad, for some months. Mr. Card, who has been a member for :nine years—seven years a eommitteeman ffijd two years as club president—was preSeiited with a set of silver-mounted bi'nfehes. • ■Both Messrs. R. J. Loe (dub prcpident) ■AiTdVJV. Perry (centre president) eulogised, aiiv"-Card's many services to the club, and .ft&llited out that he had always taken a great interest in sport, as a Rugby footballer and referee for many years, as a racehorse owner, he having won the New Zealand Cup with- The Banker in 1925, and as a good bowler. He would be an acquisition to any Wanganui club.
