(Received July 27, 1.30 p.m.) ■•'■■-' LOS'ANGELES,-July mt}' k Louise Closser Haley a. -New York and London stage actress, who recently scored a success in talking pictures,' died, of apoplexy on Wednesday. ■ SII9 was sixty-one years of age.
Louise Closser Hale was born in Chicago in 1872, and studied at the American Academy of Dramatic Arts. Sha first appeared on the stage'in Detroit, Michigan, in 1894,' the play being "In Old Kentucky." She met with success, and in 1907 was in London as Misa Hazy in "Mrs.- Wiggs of the Cabbage. Patch." Her long career was full of important stage work, the plays in which she appeared more recently being "Beyond the Horizon," 'JPeer Gynt," "Harvest," and "The Ivory Door." With the coming of the talking picture she went to Hollywood, and there made many films in which she played charactor parts. Typical of her work has been the roles she played in "Letty Lynton," "A Night in Cairo," "The Son-Daughter," "White Sister," and "No More Orchids." She was also an authoress of sorno fame, publishing many short stories and dramatic sketches.
