MR. HAROLD BARBER

The death occurred on Sunday at his residence at Shannon of Mr.. Harold Barber. He was born in Wellington in 1872 and rcceited his education at the Terrace School and Wellington Col-, lege. For ten years he wap ■ engaged in tho coach-building trade/but eventually took up farming in the Manawatu district. Besides being a member of the AVellington and Wanganui Union rowing clubs, ho belonged to the original Sclwyn Football Club, which in those early days used to play in the Hobson Street paddock. .Outside farming interests ho took an active part in local politics until two years ago, when ho was forced to retire on account of failing health. He was an old member of the Horowheiiua County Council, the Makerua Drainage Board, and tho Manawatu-Oroua . Elver Board. Mr. Barber is survived by his widow, who was a Miss McEwan, of Tiakitahuua, a, son, and two daughters, also three brothers and two sisters.
