BILLIARDS

With the progress of the Wellington inter-club billiards' championship some good form is being displayed by contestants, and the games are becoming even more interesting. Last night Shepherd (Wellington Fast Post Office) played splendidly to defeat Petersen (Cairo) by 300 points to 178. His visits to the table brought him breaks of 35, 54, and 48. In a very keen contest Rosenbaum (Y.M.C'.A.) defeated Eversleigh (Cairo) by 300 points to 248. Until well beyond the 200 mark the issue was open, but then with a good break Rosenbaum established a strong lead. Rosenbaum's best breaks were 47, 29, and 36, and Everslcigh's best was 20. Two matches tonight, Shepherd v. Simpson and Spencer v. Shanks, should also be full of interest.
