CARGO OF FRUIT

A large cargo of fruit was brought to Wellington by' the Union Company's Makura, which nrrived yesterday from San Francisco, via Papeete and Barotonga. From San Francisco the Makura brought 2755 cases of oranges, 135 cases of grapefruit, 155 cases of lemons, and 95 cases of cherries. From Rarotonga the vessel brought 6300 cases of oranges, 1960 cases of bananas, 865 cases of tomatoes,, and 96 cases of mandarins. The latter portion of the shipment was reported to bo in excellent condition. It is a second crop from the Islands, and is slightly greener than usual.
