FIRE AT MASTERTON
GOOD SAVE BY BRIGADE

MASTERTON, July 23,
Fire early this morning completely gutted two rooms occupied by the Masterton Savage Club-in the-upstairs portion o£ a building owned by S. H. Perry and Co., seed merchants. The brigade made,a good save, preventing the spread of the flames to other parts of the building, which ia of brick and with a wooden interior. Adjoining offices occupied by A. E. Prentice (Wairarapa Patriotic Association and E.S.A.), the State Forest Service, the Sketch Club, and the Orchestral Society all suffered severely from smoke. Perry's, on the ground floor", suffered slight damage from' water. The Savage Club's property was insured for £150.
