PRECEDENT IN AUSTRALIA
(Prom "Vedette.")
SYDNEY, July 20.
A cable was received over the weekend that .the Wellington Eacing Club had set a completely new precedent in appointing a woman secretary, but it is not correct that Miss D. E. Bray ,is tho first woman so appointed in the Empire, nor even in this part (of the' w v orld, for in Misa Kathleen O'Meara, "secretary of the Clarence Eivor Jockey Club, Miss Bray has a confrere in New South Wales. Miss I'Bfay's appointment, nevertheless, has created a lot of interest here.
