TOIL OF THE MOTOR
LONDON'S DEATH CHART
PEDESTRIANS WARNED
(Received July' 24, 1.30 p.m)
LONDON, July 23,
Private cars are being driven . lesi carefully and skilfully, says Sir Hugh Trenchard, Commissioner of Police, describing as "terrible" the roll of casualties.
A return of London's street deaths discloses that during the first six months of 1933 the killed numbered 338 and the injured 15,670, increases of 73 and 1877 respectively, compared with tha corresponding period of last year.
Sir Hugh adds that pedestrians must recognise that roads require the same wary crossing as of a railway line. "It cannot be necessary," he said, "that from three to four persons should bo killed daily."
