TAHITI LOSS RECALLED
The steamer. Fife, which arrived at Auckland .tin, Tuesday, night .from Galvcston, Texas, was formerly the Norwegian steamer Ponybryn,. which
wont to the rescue of the Union Company's passenger liner Tahiti when that vessel was foundering in the Pacific in August, ..193,0.". The Penybryn has since been sold and is. now owned by B. J. Sutherland and Co., Ltd., Ncwcastle-on-Tyno. It is very unusual for a British ship-owner to buy a foreign vessel. As a general rule British ships aro sold to foreigners.
