MINISTER'S REPLY TO CRITICS
(By Telegrhph.—Press Association.)
DANNEVIRKE, This Day.
Referring at Wimbledon yestorday to the recent comment at the Dannevirke Chamber of Commerce on the absence of business menin Cabinet, the Minister of Lands (the Hon. E. A. Random) said that criticism had boon mado when the chamber was discussing, tho next appointment of Attorney: General. He had nothing to say against tho chamber's representations ,in that connection, but he took strong exception to a statement "that at present they had not tho benefit .of a single business man from tho. Houso.of Representatives in tho Cabinet."
j Tho Minister took very strong exception to this statement, especially coming from the- Chamber of Commerce in his own electorate.' The' statement was untrue, arid'was calculated to discredit the members of Cabinet in the eyes of the public. Mr. llanso. ■- claimed that all the members of Cabinet had had business training iv some special direction or other. At the present time is was essential that the country should be represented in\ Parliament by farmers with successful business experience. It took a good business man to run a farm nowadays.
The Minister, quoted details of his own business experience in Dannevirko, and in connection with various bodies, and gave similar exhaustive details in respect to othei f members of Cabinet. "every single member of whom has had wide business experience," ho ■■declared.
