cord for four miles, his timo being lOmin lsee. Jarvinen has also made a world record by throwing a javelin 247 feet 1 1-8 inches.

The previous world record for four miles stood at 19min 2 3-ssec, and was held by J. Kusocinski, of Poland. The javelin throw record was held by M. Jarvinen, of Finland, and stood at 242 feet 10 1-8 inches, but some weeks ago ho was reported to have improved on that by throwing the javelin 249 feet 8 1-8 inches.
