CRASH INTO TpRNIP FIELD : (By Telegraph,—Press Association.) ■■■.:; 'GORfe, July 10. ; The career of Da,vid/ Cross as an aiiiateur aviator has-been . temporarily suspended as a result of tis home-made aeroplane nosoTdiving into a turnip field at, Otamita today. ~ / ; Mr. Cross built his own machine, which successfully iicyr; on several occasions over short distances. This after-; noon, when givirfg a demonstration flight while a hunt meeting: wasl in progress, the aeroplane nose-dived out of control from about; 300 feet, and was ; damaged beyond repair.' j Mr. Cross was fortunate'to' escape with his life. He/was pulled from the; wreckage -by .spectators. He suffered;' a fracture of the nose, cheekbone, and; ankle, and numerous abrasions, and; was taken to 'hospital.
