STREET COLLECTION
FOR THE MAYOR'S FUND
The street collection held in Wellington on Wednesday in aid of tuo Mayor 5* fund for the relief of distress produced £144 9s Bd. More than 70 collectors i gaye their services, the most profitable stand being at the G.P.0., Featherston: Street. The collection at this point returned £13 12s Od. : ■Those who had assisted in. the street] collection, and 'workers in the Prosperity Week campaign which has just concluded, assembled at the Town Hall yesterday, where they were thanked by the Mayor, Mr. T. C. A. Hislop. Appreciation of the work done by workers of: the Public Service and other group's was expressed by Mr. Hislop,. who also referred. .to the assistance received through a concert organised by Miss Kathleen O'Brien, Mr. E. I). Sinclair replied on behalf of the.participants in the campaign. ■ . It was reported' that latest results in connection with the penny voting competition were as follows:—Public Service, 89,G88; Ciuema, 48,270; Sport, 42,878. ■ :
