SUCCESS FOR INSTITUTE
The game between Institute aud Island Bay at Kilbirnie Stadium was fast and clean, Institute generally having the better of exchanges. Both teams played doggedly in the first spell, play swinging from one cud of the field to the other. The defence, however, was sound, and at halttime no score had been registered. Poor shooting robbed lustitute of. several good opportunities, and the forwards failed to apply the finishing touches when well placed in front ot the Island Bay goalmouth. Forbes gave a sparkling display in the Institute net, and was largely responsible for keeping out the Island Bay attack. In the second half Institute played against the wiud, and it was not long before R. Sutherland opened their accouut. with a good shot. Islaud Bay were ing Hashes of good combination, but lacked penetrative ability. After a period of defence Institute swung play iDto their opponents' territory, and G. Sutherland added the finishing touches. The final score was, Institute 2, Island Bay 0. Mr. A. E. Caisley was the referee.
