ASSOCIATION FOOTBALL

CHAMPIONSHIP MATCHES

CHATHAM CUP, COMPETITION

Association football matches in Wellington on Saturday were played, in cold weather, but at the Basin Reserve, where an important championship match and a Chatham Cup tic were played, good football was seen. Perhaps one of the surprises of the senior competition was the defeat on Saturday of Diamond, at the hands of Marisl. The game produced bright and interesting football, and the result was in doubt till the last minute. In the other championship match, Hutt beat Technical Old Boys. The local Chatham Cup, competition is nearing completion, and Waterside and Petoneare to meet on Saturday week to decide who shall represent Wellington in the competition.
