The total numbers of motor vehicles licensed in the Dominion in each island at March 31, 1033, was 193,019, made up as follows, the South Island figures in parentheses:—Cars, 81,194 (45.884), total 127,078; light trucks, 13,621 (7911), 21,533; heavy trucks, 9738 (4519), X.257; omnibuses, 400 (138), 538; taxis,- 1044 (554), 1598; service and rental cars, 708 (453). 1161; dealers' cars, 709 (319), 1028; local authority road vehicles, 762 (393), 1155; Government vehicles, 959 (458), 1417; motor-cycles, 15,144 (9961), 25,105; dealers' motor-cycles, 100 (47), 147. Totals, 124,382 (76,637), 195.01!).
