' The vital statistics for June, 1933, when compared with the figures for June, 1932, show an all-round decrease.

The following are the returns for June, 1933, the figures for the corresponding month last year being given in parentheses:—Births, 148 (156); deaths, 90.(103); marriages, 94 (103); marriages by registrar, 24 (42). Tor the first half of the present year births show'ail increase of 7 when compared with those for the first half of last year, and deaths a decrease of 13. Fewer marriages have also been recorded. The returns for the first half of this year, with the figures for the corresponding period of last year given in parentheses, are as follows:—Births, 981 (974); deaths, 1532 (545); marriages, 622 (655); marriages by registrar, 162 (201).
