CARNIVAL FUNDS
(To the Editor.)
Sir,—lt1 happened months ago. Our village became a sort of boyrilised Blackpool. Night was turned into day, .and both made'mad .and melodious by the braying of donkeys and-a merry-go-round, the crowning of a 'queen, and processions of people. One. prominent villager had his fare blackened; another 'wore pink and blue trqusers; "pirates" there were a-plenty and a Godiva, comparable to her original/ hurried past on a horse! One. may learn all this- from "The Post," sir, but no one can tell me of matters -which, today, are at once a mystery and amarveL ■< Money was raised at' the fair- for the relief of distress. The money is where? Who can tell mo? How much was raised? Who can say? How much has been spent? Who knows? Who is administeiing- the money? Who shall say? A mystery surrounds the finances of the Eastbourne. Easter Carnival.—l am,' *°" AN ANGRY MAN. [This letter was referred to Mr. S. F. Fisher, late Mayor of. Eastbourne and chairman of the ■ Easter. Carnival Committee, who stated that the balance-sheet of the- carnival is in the hands of the Audit Department, and when it 'is received by tho committeo it will be published. The money is in a trust account in the Post Office Savings Bank, but it will not be possible to spend it until the balance-sheet has been received.]
