CROWDED BAZAAR
INSTITUTE BOY SCOUTS
The Boy's Institute Building, in Tasman Street was thronged with interested buyers on Saturday afternoon, when a monster bazaar, in aid of the Scout Group connected with the institute was opened by the Mayor, Mr. T. C. A. Hislop. A guard of honour was formed by the Boy Scouts.
Mr. L. T. "Watkins, in introducing Mr. Hislop, said the bazaar had been promoted by the parents' committee (undor the chairmanship of SergeantMajor Sharp), Scoutmaster Cargill, and friends of the institute, who were very grateful to all who had given assistance. On behalf of all Wellington boys and the institute boys in particular, ho thanked the Mayor for breaking into a Saturday-afternoon to come and open the bazaar. Tho Mayor said he was very happy in having the opportunity of helping in a small way this branch of the Boys' Institute activities. They had dono splendid work for years past, and were now reaping the excellent results of a well-organised movement. A spray of pink roses for Mrs. Hislop was presented to tho Mayor by a small girl. Stalls then did a brisk business, thcro being a great demand for flowers, home-made cakes, and sandwiches, groceries, Scout-made- articles, books, ! confectionery, and produce.
An excellent concert was given in the evening, when choruses were sung by the Scouts, the "Sailors' Hornpipe" was danced by Miss Doris Bartlett, an elocutionary item was given by Miss Houghton, and an entertainment by Mr. Burritlge (ventriloquist) gave great pleasure and amusement. The stallholders were as follows: — Flower stall, Mrs. Bonn eld; fancy, Mrs. Barlett and Mrs. Burns; grocery, Mrs. Sharp and Miss Cargill; Scout stall, Mrs. Lamb; cakes and tea rooms, Misses I.
