The- proposed match between- Wellington and the soccer tourists when they return has now been postponed. The Chatham Cup competition is now down to semi-finals, with Petone, .Water-' side, Swifts, and' Seatoun remaining to fight for the honour of representing Wellington. As the loca^'finalists'have to bo found by July 15 the serin-final* will no doubt take place next Saturday,, and the final the, following:..week,. Football in; the lower -grades has shown an improvement: this season, tho number of entries being an increase on previous years. _lie advisability of dividing; some of the grades into, two sections will require to be considered in order to complete championship and cup games before the season closes. With two. organisations in charge of primary schools' football in, Wellington —one in the eastern suburbs, and one in the city—considerable. interest has been aroused in the matches played* on Friday afternoon. The zonal.,finals will bo reached early.in August, and a tournament is expected to commence at Wanganui about August '22.. Wellington are the present holders; of the Webster Shield, and every attempt will be made to retain the trophy: The North Island secondary schools' tournament takes places at Palmerston North this year. There is every- indication that strong senior and junior teams will represent Wellington. One member of last year's team; gained senior representative honours this se»« son, and there is no -reason why other* should not emulate his performance.
