BURIED IN SNOW

SUMMIT OF EVEREST

IMPROVEMENT NOT LIKELY

MESSAGE FROM LEADER

United I'ress Association—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright. (Received June 22, 2 p.m.) LONDON, June 21. Mr. Hugh Ruttledge, leader of the Everest expedition, in a wireless message from the mountain, says that tho climbing party reassembled at Camp j Three on June 16, but an examination of the North Col slopes showed them deep snow. The apparent improvement in the weather was fallacious, as snow in the evening replaced tho effects of the morning's sun. A careful report from the meteorological office at Calcutta indicates that there is little hope of improvement before' the middle of September. "We must return to the base camp at present, as avalanches arc pouring off Everest, and the mountain cannot be approached for many days."
