SWINE FEVER
OUTBREAK LOCALISED
In the course of ■an address on swine fever, given at the conference of . the Royal Agricultural Society last evening, Mr. W. Barry, of. the Livestock Division of the Department of Agriculture, referred to the recent outbreak near Weilington and said that they had very strong hopes that the ylast had been heard of the trouble for some time at least. The indications were that the outbreak had been safely localised .within a definite area. The authorities had been fortunate in the respect that the movement of pigs at the time from Johnsonville northwards was very small, and the chances of the trouble moving up-country were limited. Nevertheless a very exhaustive inspection had been made of farms in districts _to the north, and no indications of swine fever at all were found. ,
