ESPERANTO CLUB.
The weekly, meeting of the Wellington Esperanto Club was held last night in the V.M.C.A. Mr. Bertram Potts presided. The president announced that a communication had been received from an Esperanto organisation _in Goteburg, Sweden, in connection with.an exhibition to be. held in that city, requesting cooperation^ in; qertain; directions, 'particularly with regard to pictures of New Zealand scenery, flora; fauna,-etc.. It was decided to-accede,'to the• request. 'Special attention was devoted to tuition under the guidance'of five of the club-teachers. The; use of several blackboards proved particularly helpful in explaining grammatical points.l At.the conclusion of classes, the members divided into groups for conversa- '■ tion practice.. The junior students were under the dircctioii of Miss Coralio' Smythson.1 In the'senior section of the club extempore talks in Esperanto were given as follows:—Mr. E. C. Jack, "Vizito al Mount Holdsworth"; Mr. Gordou Harkness, "Strange Automobilo"; Mrs. Corrick, "Akcidento en la kamparo";' aud Mr. Vernon Leek, "Veturo al .la Luno'." After the reassembly of the groups Miss Coralje Smythsbu gave her concluding talk in Esperanto on famous New Zealanders. Mr. C. H. Phillips contributed an Esperanto reading, entitled "La Nature" The concluding item of the programme was presented by Mr. J. K. Campbell, who described in graphic Esperanto an interesting and terrifying experience which had befallen him underground when'shut iv by a.fall of earth.
