FOR THE MAYOR'S FUND

"SING" AND CONCERT - Another very successful community sing was held in the Town Hall during the lunch hour today,-the- hall being well filled. ■ The song leaders were Mr. O. Pritchard and Mr.. W. Mason. Mr. Frank Crowthor was at the piano. In addition to the ' old favourites, some novelty items ,wero introduced and the. hour- of singing was much enjoyed by those who took part. . The proceeds, £21 12a 3d, a'very satisfactory figure, will go towards tho Mayor's Fund for the relief of'distress.-■ Next Sunday evening, a band concert and organ recital will be given in the Town Hall, the proceeds to be shared by tho band (City Tramways) and the Mayor's fund. Mr. Paul Culleil will play, . amongst other organ items, an' "II Trovatorc" selection. Tho band numbers arranged' are varied, and solo items will.be given by Mr. D. Venablcs, Mr. J. Michel, and Miss Christina Young. The band will be under, the direction ,of Mr. E. Franklin,
