WHALLEY SENT TO GAOL

Described by the police aa a '.'chronic bolter," William James Thomas Whalley, aged 35 years, who last year was acquitted on a serious charge following a shooting tragedy at Mount Cook, was sentenced by the Magistrate (Mr. ■ Lawry ; S.M.) to three-months' gaol for obtaining £12'10s from a hotclkeepcr by, false pretences. . Counsel said the accused .had.had'a lot of publicity, and it was not ea3y for him to get work. •. :
