FARMER CHARGED
THEFT OF ELECTRICITY (Special to the "Evening Post.") '-.'.' CARTERTON, This Day. In the, Magistrate's Court at Carterton yesterday, John K. Wilson, farmer, o£ Ahiaruhe, pleaded not guilty' to two information's by the Wairarapa Electric Power Board of tampering with meters and with' the theft of electricity. The case for .the prosecution . was that in August, 1932, and in two other iustanceß, the defendant had complained to the board that some person had interfered with the meter and time switch on his property, and he stated that he suspected , somebody. The board estimated that as a result of the interference a Joss ■of £16. to £18 had been experienced, excluding any loss from the water-heating system. ~ , The defence was a complete denial, the defendant alleging that he had been made a.victim as far as interference with the meter was concerned. r^On the charge of tampering with the meter the defendant was convicted, and for the theft of electric current, he was fined £12 and £3 3s costs. Default was ' fixed at six weeks' imprisonment. '
