NAPIER PARK MEETING

ACCEPTORS AND PROSPECTS STEEPLES FILLS POORLY Good acceptances have been received foi' most events on the opening day of the Napier Park Racing Club's Winter Meeting at Greemneadows tomorrow, and the racing should be keenly contested. . Form as displayed at Hastings last week should be a reliable guide. The track, after recent heavy rain, will at the best be ou the easy side. The item of.main importance should be the Napier Steeplechase, but unfortunately interest has been robbed from this contest by the dropping out of Luna Lux and "Red Bank at the acceptance. Now only half a dozen moderate or unsound horses remain ■in the field. If Fine Acre were Bound he would look the likeliest prospect, but as there is very considerable doubt about him betters may find it safer to rely on Acervate and Revel. Aceryate is in Bolid condition, and she looks like being a good favourite. There are two open flat events. In the Flying Handicap the public will find it no oasy matter to discriminate among Huntingdon, Royal Hunting, and Slippery. In the Stewards' Stakes Handicap, over a distance of approximately a mile, Courtyard ia again likely to be hard to beat, although lifted Sib, on what he carried on Saturday, and hie main opposition may coma from Huntingdon (if reserved) and Cuticle, though Chief Marionette and, Kalmuck are a couple of promoted hacks who are capable of extending the best of the others, and a turn' at last from Paleta would not astound those who noted him finishing on well in his two races last veek. « The following horses are in form and, are likely to be among the public's principal selections:— t, 12.0.—Moteo Hack Hurdles: Henry of Navarre and Mia Stella. " 12.40.—Maiden_ Scurry: Sunstead, Bradman, and Hunting Star. | I.ls.—Flying Handicap: Slippery and Huntingdon (or Royal Hunting). " l.oO.—Napier Steeples: Acervate and Jvevel. 2.30. —Meeanee , Hack Handicap: Aescu*. ]us, Swift and Sure, and Hunting Jay. 3.s.—Stewards' Stakes Handicap: Courtyard. Cuticle, and Paletn. ■ 3.4s.—Settlers' Hack Handicap: Walton Park, Princess Bell, and Grand Lahu. The acceptances are as follows:—
