Since yesterday an anticyclone has been centred between the South -Island and Chatham Islands, while the northern, cyclone has moved nearer to Cape Maria van Diemen. ' The latter has caused strong east winds and rain to develop ■in North Auckland. • A few isolated showers have also fallen on the east coast of the North Island, but otherwise the weather has been fair to fine with light, variable winds, mainly between south-east and north-east i*revaillne..
