WIN FOR MARLBOROUGH

(By Telegraph.) (Special to the "Evening Post.") .BLENHEIM, June. 17. Maryborough defeated Nelson by 16 points to 11 in a game which produced little in the way of good football except for occasional rallies. Best scored a try for Maryborough at the end of a forward effort, and Lane added a try for the home side, Phillips converting. Stewart opened Nelson's scoring with a penalty in the second half. The Nelson backs showed form, Watson making a brilliant rim before sending Max over for a try,' Stewart converting; Dobson scored for the home team in a forward rush, and Woolley scored a similar try shortly after, Phillips adding the points. Just before time, Busch made a brilliant finish to a back movement, scoring in .the corner. The Marlborough forwards hooked the ball most. The Nelson inside backs let their side down by poor combination.
