SCRAP IRON TRADE
CARGO FOR JAPAN
Owing to the large amount of scrap iron being offered, for sale in the Dominion it is probable, that another steamer- will' be chartered to load a further quantity 06 metal for Japan. No arrangements, however, have yet been made regarding another vessel. The steamer Helmspey, which is due at Auckland next 'Sunday to complete loading, is now! expected to take on board only about 000 tons, in jjlace'of- 1500 tons as originally intended. This is duo to an extra quantity of metal having been loaded at Dunedin,'.'-which port, she left yesterday for Auckland after a delay of four days. Loading operations .■ are expected to occupy about four days at Auckland; and. afterwards the vessel will sail for Japan. She will take about 7300 tons of metal from the Dominion. The Helmspey is the second steamer to load scrap iron-in New Zealand this year. The Kyoka Mam loaded about 8000 tons in February. .
