JUSTICES ON THE BENCH
''.Remedy. Required" supports the proposal of the Minister of Justice to make extended use of the services \of Justices on the Bench, but with the proviso that discretion must be used in choosing the men for this work. In England only men whose , education, experience, and status qualifies them for work on the Bench are eligible for appointment as Justices of the Peace. In New Zealand, though' the respectability 6i the Justices may be beyond question, not all of them have equally high qualifications. Some are, therefore, placed in a falsa when asked to ,act on the Bench. The; correspondent suggests that the Justices of the Peace Association should he ,asked to nominate from among their number the' members best fitted for this duty., ■;
