MANY VISITORS
■ Another typically enjoyable evening was spent by members of the Athenian Club and their friends inthe Pharmacy Hall last night. The host and hostess wero Mr. and Mrs.'Hawqrth, the latter wearing a maudarin satin gown. Athenian Club gatherings are always characterised by unusually well arranged, programmes of music, dancing, and novel items, and last evening's entertainment was no exception.
The host and hostess wore introduced by the president'(Mr. J. C. : Burberry), who made an interesting announcement regarding the next gathering, the theme of which will bo."the roaring nineties." Members were- asked to wear the coatumes of the period.
Songs by Mr. McGill wero enthusiastically encored, as were also recitations by Misa Esme Crowe, and songs by Miss Horniblow. The dance items, which included the military two-step and. the d'Alberts, wero entered,into with much spirit, bright music adding greatly to tho general enjoyment.' ;An appetising supper of hot savouries was served. A lucky, spot dance was'won by. Mrs. Howard and Mr. Thompson.
