CONTROLLING BODY MEETS
"Despite a falling-oil' in subscriptions and maintenance fees, tho work of tho society is being well maintained," said tho president (Mr, J t W, Henderson) at the twenty-second annual meeting of tho Anglican Boys' Home Society yesterday afternoon.
Tho patron of tho society (the Kfc. Rev. T. H. Sprott, Bishop of Wclllington) presided, and there was a good attendance of members.
On tho motion of the Veii. Archdeacon A. M. Johnson, it was decided to place oil record tho society's appreciation of tho services rendered to the Lower Hutt homo'by the Yen. Archdeacon A. L. Hansell, whose resignation as vicar of St. James' Church, Lower Hutt, carried with 4t ,'liis retirement as chaplain of the home. It was decided to recognise his services, which extended over a period of eighteen years," by appointing him the first ■honorary vicepresident. Archdeacon Johnson said that Archdeacon Hansell had'exercised a wonderful influence over the boys, and his services Avould bo sadly missed.'
Tho Key. H. E.; K. Fry, the present j vicar of St. James, will, become a member of tho executive on his being appointed chaplain by the'BishbpV I A hearty vote of thanks was accorded to; nil thoso •who had assisted in the work of, the society througliout the year. Special, thanks'were expressed to Dr. Bolt, of Lower; Hutt, .and: Dr. Hosking, of ■ Mastertbn, for their untiring eafo and attention'to tho boys in the homes. ■'■'■' ' ;" ' ' ■ A suggestion that a playroom be provided at tho Lower Huit home waa referred to tho executive for consideration. In connection1: with, tho'.Finance Advisory Committee, the secretary said that tho investments of tho society were assuming large proportions, and ho did not think that the financial interests should be left entirely to himself and tho president .to look after. , ■ y
