FINANCIAL POSITION
LOSS^ ON YEAR'S WORKING
The fact that the financial position of the Wellington Free Ambulance was not nearly as good as it was last year was mentioned by the treasurer, Mr. J. W. Jack, in submitting tho annual balance-sheet for the consideration of tho board at its monthly meeting today.
According to tho statement the income for the year was £4290 18s 4d, as compared with £4479 Cs 9d for the previous year. Personal subscriptions had fallen from £559 3s 3d to £470 113 3d, employees' subscriptions from £1569 0s 6d to £1082 11s 3d, and local bodies' subscriptions from £1701 8s to £1515 3s. The amount received from interest had declined from £72 ISs 9d to £62 2s. .-■■.:'.-
On the expenditure side salaries hud been reduced from, £208S 2s 3d to £2319 8s ; but the amount spent on motor uirtinte'nance had increased from £746 37s 2d to £843 15s 3d, and rent and rates from £229 12s 3d ,to £401 6s 7d.
The amount written off as depreciation was £478 18s Bd, as compared with £524 4s 8d for the previous year, £388 9s 9d of the depreciation being in.regard to the "motor-vehicles, which were written down 20 per cent, each year.
In regard to depreciation, the chairman, Mr. G.
