The buoyancy which has resulted from Hie advance in the values of store beef, fat sheep, and fat lambs at Addington recently, and the continuance of that advance today; lias caused general confidence of a degree not known for over twelve months. In response to spirited competition fat sheep advanced to a level not known-for. more than a year, wethers making up to 25s 7d and ewes to 21s lOd. Fat lambs and store sheep also recorded substantial advances on late rates. Store sheep: More than a normal winter yarding came forward. Ewe lambs aud forward wether lambs were- Is to 2s a head dearer.than last week, and adult ewes in good condition advanced by a similar extent. Values: Good ewe lambs, 11s to 12s; medium, 9s to 10s' 6d; ordinary, 7s to 8s; good wether lambs to 8s 8d; ordinary m.s. to 7s; small and plain to 5s Gd; good six and eight halfbred and crossbred ewes, ,12s; to 13s; aged inferior, SFa°t lambs: An entry of 2200, with the West Coast represented, met an excellent sale from start to finish, with butchers paying over 5d a lb. Exporters bought with the greatest keenness, also paying up to sd. The average advance for the auction was Is to Is 6d a head in the best sale of the season. Values: Extra prime heavy lambs to 20s Id; prime heavy, las Od to 17s Cd; medium weight, 13s to los; ordinary, 10s to 12s 6d; light, 7s (id to 9s Cd Fat sheep: An entry of 5250, with a large number of drafts from Southland, Ota^o, South Canterbury, and the West Coast, met particularly keen competition for light sheep, with an advance of Is a head on late rates. Other classes showed a slightly smaller advance. The rise in the last few weeks has been 3s to 4s a head, reaching the best level at Addington for over twelve months. Values were: Show wethers to 25s 7d; "extra prime heavy wethers, 20s 4d to. 22s lOd; prime, 18s 6dto 20s; medium weight, 16s Cd to 18s; ordinary, Us to 16s; light, Us to 13s 6d; extra prime heavy ewes to 21s KM; prime, 165.3d to. 18s; medium weight. Us Od to 16s; ordinary, 10s 6d to 13s; light and unfinished, 7s to 9s. Fat cattle: An entry of 640 head, the largest.at an ordinary sale for four years. Values were maintained for extra prime sorts, while other classes were 10s to £1 !a head easier. Cattle came forward from the West Coast, Southland Otago, and South Canterbury. Especially good beet made 24s a 1001b; good prime, 16s to 20s; heavyweight and medium beef, 12s to 16s; good cow and heifer beef, 13s to l*s, secondary, 8s to lls; rough to Cs. Values: Extra prime Heavy steers to £11 Wi, prime, £7 10s; prime medium weight, ±U to £8; ordinary, £3 10s to £5 10s; light, £1 7s 6d to £3; extra prime heifers to £6 17s Od; prime, £4 10s to £6 ss; medium, £2 10s to £4; light £1 7s Gd^to £2 10s; prime cows, £3 los to £5 17s Gd, medium, £2 to £3 ss; light, £1 to £2. Fat pigs: A small entry. Values: Choppers, 30s to £2 18s Gd; bacouers, 38s 6d to 47s 6d; heavy, 52s Gd to sos (id; extra heavy to £3 Is 6d; average price per lb, 3%d to 4d; porkers, 17s to 21s 6d; heavy, 23s 6d to 29s M; extra heavy to 32s 6d; average price per lb, 394 dto 4%d.
