' There arc, at present one .thousand unemployed from other parts of New Zealand in. numerous uuoniploynieiit camps established in the -Nelson : district, for roadftiakin^, gold seeking, afforestation, and hawthorn ' hedge cutting, and the Hospital Board is feeling the strain of meeting tho medical needs of tho men. Tho chairman (Major E. Dagger) 'gaid'it was apparent that the machinery for placing men in camps was in neod of overhaul. Men were sent often to cold, wet localities not properly equipped. Some soon cracked up and came to tho hospital, and were a liability oa the Nelson-rate-payers. This would b8 a different matter if the men belonged' totthe Nelson area. It was decided to place the matter before the UneinploymGnt \ Board asking what assistance it would offer.
