BOOTS FOR RELIEF WORKERS
(To the Editor.)
Sir, —I was very much surprised at the shopkeepers protesting against the Government helping the relief workers to get boots. From my own experience as a relief worker, I cannot see how the shopkeepers will suffer at all, as I have not been able to buy any clothes or boots out of the money I get. I have .had to make second-hand ones do, and I am sure that if I had kept up with the high rents, my family and I would not have had enough food. Of course, I am only speaking for myself. If-other relief workers can buy new clothes and boots out of the money I should like them to teach me a lesson. —I am, etc., RELIEF WORKER.
