PEKING, June 9. While it will probably take som« time to liquidate tie military situation^ a genuine effort to carry the Tangkn armistice into effect appear* to be under way. A noticeable instance of the improved feeing was the arrival, in Peking of a Japanese aeroplane carrying an officer detailed by the Japanese Arm 7 to offer condolences over the Chines* loss of life in tne recent hostilities. Meanwhile foreign dispatches report that Japanese troops nave begun -with* drawing northward from Chinwangtao. Oa the Chinese side rapid progress if reported in the work of winding up th«j war-time organisations and in transferring troops back to the provinces.
