IMPRESSIVE FUNERAL
The respect in which the late MY, Alex. Mcßain was held was shown by the large number and representative character of those who. assembled to pay a tribute to his memory yesterday afternoon. The funeral took place, at the Taita Cemetery, the services in St. James's Church and at the graveside being conducted by the Eev. H. E, K. Fry. - Members of the various local bodies, scholastic institutions, and sports bodies were present. The pall-bearers were Sir Alex. Eoberts and Messrs. D. S. Patrick, D. Mcßean, W. H. Olson, H. S. George, and D. McGrath. Among those present were Mr. W. Nash, M.P., Mr. J. W. Andrews (Mayor of Lower Hutt), Councillors B. Ginger, W. G. , Meklrum, C. J. Ashton, J. Mitchell, F. Campbell, W. Wir s on, and A. Anderson (who as chairman Tepresented the Hutt Valley Power Board), Mr. E. W. Wise '(Mayor of Eastbourne) and Councillors Margaret Magill, A. L. Macandrew, C. A. Bendle, and A. T. E. Duncan, Mr. W. T. Strand (ex-Mayor of Lower ' Hutt), Sergeant J. W. McHolm and Constable Dwyer (Lower Hutt Police), Messrs. Thos. Forsyth', J. Stonehouse (Education Board), W. V. Dyer (who also represented the Hutt County Council), H. N. Benson, W. E. Dickenson, E. Harland, and J. Bell (staff of the Eastern Hutt School), H. S. Duading, P. B. Henderson, W. F. Hooson, L. H. Wesley, and H. A. Lines (Eastern Hutt School Committee), F. J. Jones, M. J. Hodgins, and A. J. Gearing (Hutt Eiver Board), Messrs. | H. P. Kidson and J. N. Millard (staff of High School), Jas. Kerr (High School Board of Governors), E. .1. Burke, Vaughan, and Browning (Hutt Valley Headmasters' Association), E. P. Bunny, B. S. Knox, and E. F. Mainland (Lower Hutt Borough officials), Dr. J. E. Boyd, E. W. Hunt, H. Miller (Central Hutt School staff), E. F. Hollands, Mr. J. J. Bodgers (Kilbirnio School), Mr. J. G. MacKenzie (City Council staff), Mr. W. P. Williams, Mr. Geo. Duncan; Messrs. A. F. Wircn, J. Moffi.tt, G. Jackson, J. King, J. N. Millard, A. E. Neilson, and Major King and Professor Boyd Wilson represented the Wellington Eugby Union, and Messrs. C. Dudding, A. Eo'utley, J. La Eoche; the Hutt Eugby Club. The Hutt Athletic Club and the Lower Hutt District Cricket Club were also represented by members.
