NO IMPROVEMENT YET

The weather will continue to be dull, cold, and -misty, with further rain, in most districts, according to the forecast issued at noon today. Heavy falls are likely in the eastern and northern portions of the North Island, where there havo already been some serious downpours during the past few days. Moderate to strong south to south-east winds are expected over most of the Dominion, reaching gale force at times about and north of Cook Strait. From Auckland northwards west to southwest winds > are probable. The cyclonic depression which passed eastwards during Saturday night has been followed by another one which was centred this morning about the Bay of Plenty. Consequently there has been no improvement in.tho weather, and cold, dull, misty conditions have continued to prevail. Fairly widespread rains have occurred, with heavy falls at places in the East Coast districts of the North Islnd and about Cook Strait, resulting in some flooding in Hawke's Bay. Takapau reports having had 301 points during tho past twenty-four hours, and' Cape Campbell 224 points. In the West Coust and southern por--1 tions of tho South Island, however, there has been practically no rain. • ; At Auckland a fresh southerly wind prevailed on Saturday, and the,weather ■ was fair. Yesterday tho wind was north-easterlr, and the weather was dull. Light showers fell in the morning, and last night was very wot. Wellington experienced a most unpleasant weekend with a cold southeast wind. The rainfall on Saturday was 17 points, Lower Hutt having 13 points. Yesterday 116 points fell in Wellington aud 96 points in Lower Hutt. The weather at Christchnrch was dull, misty, and cold on both days, with a south-westerly breeze. Rain Bet in last" night, 62 points falling up to 9 a.m. today. It was dull also in Dunedih, ! north-easterlies prevailing.
