TEA LIKELY TO BE DEARER
Private cable advices received from Colombo indicate that at the tea sales held this week the market was particularly strong for all descriptions. Common teas showed an advance in price over last week of %d. per Ib, and good liquoring sorts' showed a similar advance. Quality is improving, and supplies are expected to become smaller. A London cablegram advised that Java teas offered there were markedly dearer this week.. , . , ■ The, tea production restriction scheme now adopted by India and Java, as well as Ceylon, is confidently expected to raise the ■ prices of teas generally in each of those markets. The feeling in the tea trade generally appears to be that prices must advance, for all stocks are reported to be firmly held;
