LIFE-SAVING SERVICES
In a letter to the "Evening Post," Mr. i\ Chap.man, chairman, Wellington Head Centre Eoyal Life-Saving Society, states: "In the death of Mr. A. B. Dore and Mr. James McNie during the past week the ,eauso of life-saving in Wellington has 'suffered a severe blow. Both, gentlemen have rendered signal service in spreading the knowledge of life-saving amongst the, younger generation. By a coincidence both, gentlemen were official time-keepers for the society, and thoir general presence at lifo-saving competitions will be sorely missed. Mr. McNie's special interest was the imparting of knowledge to children, whilst Mr. Dore was specially interested in surf life-saving, and was a vice-president of thb Maranui Surf and Life-Saving Club. On behalf of the society I wish to express our appreciation for the fine work that both gentlemen have don© in the past and to express our deepest sympathy to their bereaved families.''
